Why this website exists
Counting mantra repetitions is simple in theory and surprisingly distracting in practice. The mind that is supposed to rest on the naam ends up busy with arithmetic — was that 47 or 48? — and the softness of the practice thins out.
Physical malas solve this beautifully, and we encourage their use. But there are moments when a mala is not in your hand: a commute, an office break, travel, late-night restlessness. Naam Jaap Counter exists for those moments. Open the page, tap once for every japa, and let the tool hold the number.
What we believe about a good counter
- It should be free, with no account wall between you and your practice.
- It should be private — your count stays on your device, not on our servers.
- It should be calm. No gamification that turns sadhana into a scoreboard.
- It should work well on a phone, because that is where most spontaneous practice happens.
- It should respect tradition: 108-bead rounds, mala goals, and space for any mantra you bring.
What you will find here
The homepage hosts a universal online japa counter. Dedicated pages cover popular practices such as Ram naam, Radha naam, Krishna Maha Mantra, Om Namah Shivaya and more. Short guides explain japa, the meaning of 108, and how to use a digital mala well.
How the site is supported
The tools are free. To cover hosting and continued development we may display advertisements through networks such as Google AdSense. Ads are kept away from the counting surface itself as much as possible. Please see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details.
